Dad and Connie Come to Colorado
This picture was taken about twenty minutes after I had gotten home from work last Wednesday...as you can tell, we were already having a good time. :)
Silly lady! We just hung out at home on the first night as it was rainy and icky out and I was battling an awful cold.
Night number two: Dad, Connie and I went to the Tasty Weasel Tap Room for an Oskar Blues brewery tour. Dad was having trouble finding his way around...
There are about 7,588 cans on one of the pallets right in front of Dad. (Remember that number for later. Seriously, you will be quizzed.)
We got to see them filling and putting lids on the beer cans.
The man running the machine wasn't filling anything when we were on our tour, but he ran some empty cans through and made us some....
COIN BANKS! More like a savings account since you can't get your money back out. (Well, you can but you know what I mean.)
Alright, back to the number I threw at you earlier. The aluminum cube you see in the picture is made up of one of those pallets...that's 7,588 CANS! Whoa. Dad thought it weighed about 50-60 pounds or so. In the background of the picture you can see the sitting area for after the tour is done, complete with skiball, foosball and carpet ball!
After the first brewery, we headed to Lyons to visit ANOTHER Oskar Blues. I love the background here! Keats and I visited this place after we signed our lease in June.
Our last stop of the night was the Eagle Grill right by our house. Connie is up on the stage singing "Black Velvet" and there were two couples dancing to her song, haha!
Night three: We went to a small bar (Jerry D's) in Dacono to meet up with some of Dad and Connie's friends from Sturgis.
The "backyard" of this bar was THEEEE coolest! It had an island theme and there was a tiki bar outside with horseshoes and bocce ball!
On Saturday morning we woke up early to go to the farmer's market at the Boulder county fairgrounds. It was filled with lots of goodies!
You can kiiinda see the mountains in the back.
We went to Left Hand brewery on Saturday afternoon (didn't get any good pictures) and then we went to McCarthy's Pub which is THEE dump of all dumps! But it did have the cheapest pitchers we had seen all weekend. And $1.00 french fries! My mama didn't raise no fool! ;) We obviously played pool, which I don't think I have EVER done outside of my Grandma and Grandpa's! I was terrible, but it was fun!
Peeping Tom in action. (Why would they spray paint windows on?!)
On Saturday night we had ribs and sweet corn. IT WAS AWESOOOME!
Thanks to Dad and Connie for a great (and entertaining) couple of days! I was so glad they came out and I was so sad to see them leave. I had to hold back the tears at the airport! I won't see them again until late December. :(
