Ever Been to the Zoo in December?

I can officially say that I have been to the zoo in December as of last night. We went to see the Denver Zoo Lights and it was a great time.

(This one is for you, mama!)

We visited the North Pole

We got to see ice sculptures. The carver was giving a presentation when we got there so we didn't get to see any carving action.

We pet a hedgehog. Really cute but they're not as soft as I thought they'd be!

Keaty chillin' in a hippo's mouth!

The only animal we saw outside. Some kind of goat...ugly!

This elephant was so pretty.

This tree was so pretty. It changed from all red to all white. You can kind of see a bunch of mistletoe (the ball hanging between the first two branches on the left). Keats wouldn't let me kiss him under it ;)

There were 4 or 5 giraffes inside. That was an interesting sight to see!

He looks like he's swimming in the water!

Cooking with....

COURTNEY! Yes, I have been in the kitchen enough in the last couple of weeks to fill a blog!
Well, I only have two things to share but they're both easy "recipes."
The first.....a turkey veggie tray. (I hate the word 'veggie')
This was very easy to make. I wanted to do something fun and creative with our vegetable tray for Thanksgiving so I googled something and this is what I found. It was a big hit. :)

Keaty took Bagheera outside for the first time in Colorado. Usually when Bagheera gets outside (when we're carrying groceries inside or when he goes onto the patio) he just gets really low to the ground and does some variation of the army crawl. And he never gets very far.

He loved climbing the tree. Yes, even without his front claws.

Then..we made MUFFINS! Blueberry (sour) cream muffins, that is.

Merry Christmas from the creepy cat that watches my every move while I'm in the kitchen.

I took these to work for my "lounge duty" week and the ladies loved them. So did Keats. He thought they were made from the little packets. Um, no...FROM SCRATCH!

Nixon kept trying to walk on top of the bushes in front of our patio. Weirdo.

Kasen on his bus!

So cute.

Have You Ever...

Wondered how to get a stubborn cat to enjoy the company of a hyper pomeranian? We've got the solution for you right here! All you need is some catnip spray (yes, they do make such a thing) and a tail.

Note: No animals were harmed in the making of this movie. :)

Hiking in Boulder

Today was the first day of my week off for Fall Break. We spent the day in Boulder and started it out by hiking in Chautaqua Park.
The drive to Boulder.

Looks like home! (Plus mountains)

The beginning of our trek. We've done the hike before but took a different route and obviously ended up somewhere different!

Keats was such a trooper...I was dead tired about 5 minutes in, but he waited for me like a well-trained pup. I mean, like a good boyfriend... :D

The views were SO worth my pain!

LOOK AT HOW TALL THAT "STEP" IS!

Looking over the CU campus. It's so pretty!

Last, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOMMY! You're the best and I miss and love you so much!
(We met the guy behind me coming down the mountain and he said he left his girlfriend behind because she was so tired! He asked "Do you think I should go back for her?" UUUH, YEAH! He clearly didn't, hence the waiting!)
