Note To Self: BUY HAMMOCK!

There are dozens of hammocks along the beach walk in front of all of the Kaanapali resorts and they are so relaxing. Here is a video of us enjoying some down time on our trip. (What am I talking about....the entire trip was down time!)

We laid in one of the hammocks after dinner at Japengo and looked at the stars and I think it may have been one of the most relaxing things ever.

Stragglers and Cake

I found a couple other pictures from Hawaii on my memory card that didn't upload the first time.

We saw lots of geckos on our last day by the pool. They're super cute and super sketchy at the same time, haha!

I swear that crooked palm tree makes it into every picture!

Keaton couldn't resist the coconut shrimp and had to get it one more time before leaving! The chips they served with the pool food were so weird! They were like fried packing peanuts....they crackled when they touched your tongue.

Keaton's favorite snack of the trip was shave ice. He found snow cones at the pool on the last day and they just didn't compare. Boo hoo! ;)

Aaaaand then there was cake! I made Keats an angel food cake last night and then made some sort of raspberry topping with the above ingredients. (I used the entire cup of yogurt, 3ish spoonfuls of cool whip, and probably 1/3 cup of powdered sugar...it always turns out different so just add ingredients as you like!)

Not bad for a box cake ;) Oh, and please don't mind the paper plate. We only use the fine china for dessert items made from scratch...

Hawaii

Keats and I on one of the last nights in Maui. I had to give in and wear the flower in my hair just ONCE!

We ate dinner at a sushi place on the ocean called Japengo (it was at the Hyatt) and this place was beautiful. There was instrumental music playing in the background and with the sound of the waves crashing, I felt like I was at the spa.

My edamame and Keaton's seaweed salad. Love edamame but I didn't care for the seaweed salad. It was sort of gummy. I more so didn't like it because of the texture...the taste wasn't bad at all.

Our two sushi rolls: the Swat (spicy tuna, salmon, jalepeno and ponzu sauce) and the Tootsie (soft shell crab, snow crab, cucumber, shiitake mushroom, avocado, lobster-teriyaki). Holy cow, they were delicious.

Coconut creme brulee for dessert. It came in a halved coconut and of course, it was also delicious.

No idea what this thing was...it looked like jelly rolled in sand and it just kept contracting to make itself move until it finally fell of the rock.

Keats, Tyler and I went on a snorkeling trip to the Molokini crater and the turtle arches one morning. The picture above is part of the crater. We saw lots of neat fish and Tyler got some pictures with our underwater camera so if they turn out when we get them developed, I'll get them on here.

The Molokini crater is a partially submerged volcanic crater and it's one of the top 10 dive spots in the world. We also went to the turtle arches and saw some sea turtles. The first one we saw was bigger than the laundry basket sitting next to me! One of the smaller turtles went right towards Keats and he had to get out of the way FAST! We got to see four turtles but Ty (who had the camera) only got to see one or two. I don't know how the pictures will turn out, but click here to watch a video I found on YouTube with the sea turtles and some other fish! They're amaaaazing!

The view of the main pool at the Hyatt. All of the resorts have the prettiest landscaping. I took some videos (that I'll put up soon...hopefully!) that will do the grounds justice because these pictures just don't cut it!

There were penguins in our lobby! (Keats is convinced that a penguin would be a nice addition to our family....uh oh)

You would not believe how many pictures and videos I took TRYING to get a good shot of a whale. I bet there were close to 75 and this is about the best I got of a whale spouting.

It was so frustrating because I'd have a good shot but when I'd zoom in, I'd zoom too far and miss it. Such an amateur. The pics below I stole from Sarah. She took surf lessons again and they take pictures of you during them and the guy also got pictures of some whales that were playing around behind her.

The end result. This looked hilarious when looking at it from ocean level. They were getting so many laughs from people walking by!

This was the awards luau for United Life and the decorations were SO BEAUTIFUL! It was an Asian-style luau which was fun to see since we had just seen the traditional Polynesian-style luau the night before. Matt was the top annuity producer for 2011 and the Jennings and Hall Financial Group was in the top 25 again, so they were honored very nicely.

I forgot to take a picture of the soup before I chowed it down but it was a soft-shell crab sort of chowder. This very interesting salad (accompanied by goat cheese and walnuts) came in a baked apple. It was pretty delicious but my first question was "How the heck do I eat this?" Can't take me anywhere fancy.

The main course was absolutely delicious. I saved the menu but somewhere between Hawaii and Colorado, it got lost. Who woulda thunk?

Pineapple upside down cake for dessert. That was a first for me and I loved it of course.

We visited the Banyan tree one afternoon. The tree was brought to Lahaina from India in 1873when it was only 8 feet tall. It's now over 60 feet tall and has 12 major trunks plus a ginormous core. It stretches over a 200-foot area and shades 2/3 of an acre. (Didn't think you'd be getting a Banyan tree lecture today, did ya?)
